Special achievements for economics
Prof. Hans Möller was the founding father of the Münchner Volkswirte Alumni-Club e.V. (VAC) in 1994, and without his ongoing commitment many of the Alumni Club's current activities and events would be unthinkable.
Hans Möller began his academic career as a student of Heinrich von Stackelberg in Berlin. In 1954, he accepted an appointment at the Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt; in 1955, he moved to the renowned Robert Schumann Chair at the College of Europe in Bruges. In 1958, he became a full professor at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, where he specialized in international economic relations.
Prof. Möller was one of the eight members of the expert commission preparing the monetary union of 1948, an employee of the OECD in Paris and an advisor to the EU. It was not least on his initiative that the Scientific Advisory Council to the Federal Ministry of Economics was founded, of which he was a member until his death. Among his many honors are honorary doctorates from the Universities of Kiel and Frankfurt and his membership in the Bavarian Academy of Sciences.
Since 2004, the Münchner Volkswirte Alumni-Club e.V. has awarded the Prof. Hans Möller Medal in recognition of great services to economics.
