Public transport tickets and recommendations

Munich's public transport system is efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly. It includes local trains (S-Bahn), buses, trams, and underground (U-Bahn) services.

The Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV) is the public transport authority in Munich, and offers a variety of tickets types for different needs and cost-effective travel.

The MVV Journey Planner tool provides real-time updates, optimal routes, and ticket options for seamless travel.

Buying tickets

Physical tickets can be purchased through ticket-vending machines at underground stations and within most trams and buses. All types of digital/e-tickets can be purchased conveniently via the MVV app. The MVV app is available in English and provides real-time information on arrivals and departures.
