Artist´s impression of exoplanet Kepler 16 b. This planet orbits a pair of stars, both are smaller and lighter than our Sun but one significantly smaller than the other. The planet is of a gaseous nature and slightly smaller than Saturn.
The 8-km-high volcano Maat Mons is the second-highest mountain and highest volcano of Venus. Lava flows extend for hundreds of kilometres across the fractured plains shown in the foreground, to the base of Maat Mons. This side-on view is reconstructed from radar data collected by NASA´s Magellan mission.
