Auftaktveranstaltung der CAS Research Group "The Sound of Theatre" unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. David Roesner mit Prof. Adrian Curtin, Ph.D., Prof. Millie Taylor, Ph.D. und Dr. Pieter Verstraete.
In contrast to many other artifacts in the arts, ”sound“ and ”music“ in theatre productions remain particularly intangible, often even unheard impressions for scholars and general audiences alike. In this first public engagement, members of the research group will approach the theme by recalling ”favourite moments“ in their personal theatre biographies: they will share particularly significant, beautiful, surprising, or disturbing sonic events, whether they experienced them on stage or in the auditorium, seeking to draw conclusions from these musical imprints. What made them memorable? How do we experience sound and music in the theatre? How does it impact on the performance?
Adrian Curtin ist Professor für Theaterwissenschaften an der Universität Exeter. Millie Taylor ist Professorin für Musiktheater an der Universität Amsterdam. Der Theaterwissenschaftler Pieter Verstraete forscht an der Universität Groningen. Alle drei sind derzeit Fellows in der CAS Research Group.
