Lora Koycheva (independent scholar) will present on "speculative anthropologies of the role of robotics in next beyond-human paradigms."

Currently a visiting researcher at the Rachel Carson Center while setting up a new project, Dr. Lora Koycheva is an applied anthropologist, whose practice and research borrow and blend a variety of approaches, theories, conversations, methods, and insights from a range of disciplines – from anthropology, philosophy, and innovation, to engineering, finance, and robotics – in search of tracing and enacting the next iterations of embodied more-than-human ontologies. In her talk, she will tell her of her unconventional career path; why she is setting up the Green Like a Robot project; how she is (currently) planning on doing it; and why it matters for scholarship and society.

Lora holds a PhD in sociocultural anthropology from Northwestern University in the US, and was most recently a senior research fellow at the Technical University of Munich. Apart from independently researching and writing, she is also actively setting up her own venture, as well as co-convening the EASA Applied Anthropology Network.
