Schadenfreude, Counter-Empathy and Moral Cognition - A Window into the New Field of Intercognition: Cognitive neuroscience envisioned human beings as disembodied entities, guided by logical rationality and isolated from culture. However, differences among the cognition in the wild and the compartmentalized cognition of laboratories became evident on moral cognition and in counter-empathic emotions such as Schadenfreude; a proxy that encompasses multiple synergistic processes. A context-based approach to intercognition may help to surpass the isolationist-passive view of neurocognitive approaches.
