This week's Tuesday Discussion will be with RCC visiting scholar Rebecca Jordan who is advocating for the Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries on the island of Stonington, ME. The Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries have been working towards bridging local knowledge with visitor interest in coastal ecology. The center also fundraises for ecological education expansion for the community and support of the local fishermen.

In her talk, Rebecca Jordan will primarily explore the entanglements of diverging political positions in coastal Maine communities and how these positions impact challenges and changes to the lobster industry and Maine coast. She will also be referring to current lobster ecology and look at the expectations scientists have for Maine's lobster fishing industry.

The Tuesday Discussions bring environmental practitioners such as politicians, leaders in NGOs, and activists to the RCC to discuss topical environmental issues. The guests also offer insights into the application of different environmental qualifications and knowledge in practice. The Tuesday Discussion is open primarily to RCC fellows, members of the Doctoral Program Environment and Society (Proenviron), and students of the Environmental Studies Certificate Program (ESCP).
