The position will be available from July 2021 at the Max von Pettenkofer Institute (located in Munich city center).
The successful applicant will participate in the postgraduate program Infection Research on Human Pathogens @ MVPI. The project will be available in the scientific group of Prof. Dr. Sebastian Suerbaum and address questions related to the genomic adaptation of the bacterial gastric pathogen Helicobacter pylori to its individual human host, using a combination of State of the Art genomic analysis with diverse molecular experimental approaches.
Tasks and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated individual, who would like to perform his/her Ph.D. thesis in an interdisciplinary and international environment. We anticipate applicants with an excellent previous scientific training, very good communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Applicants with a completed undergraduate degree (Master or equivalent) in the life sciences, biomedical or natural sciences will be considered. Experience in microbiology, safe handling of human pathogens, cellular biology or biochemical methods will be beneficial for successfully conducting the project.
