The Faculty of Physics invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) of Experimental Physics - Molecular Physics of Life (Chair) commencing as soon as possible.The successful candidate is expected to represent the field of experimental biophysics in research and teaching at the university. We are inviting outstanding candidates in molecular biophysics addressing key questions relevant for understanding physical principles that govern living systems at the molecular and cellular scale. The Chair is expected to provide intellectual leadership and excellent teaching in physics and especially in the broader field of “Physics of Life”. The person appointed should be an internationally leading figure who advances the development of novel imaging tools for biophysical and cell biological applications. The candidate is expected to have an innovative research program that combines bionanotechnology with single-molecule fluorescence methods and high-resolution microscopy techniques which enable to quantitatively address key questions in biomolecular, life-like, and living systems. The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in shaping the emerging field of “Physics of Life” and to participate in the interdisciplinary activities of the Center for NanoScience (CeNS), as well as other local collaborative research programs.

Prerequisites for this position are a university degree, a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification, teaching skills at university level, excellent academic achievements and a productive and promising research program.
