The Department of Statistics invites applications for an interim professorship (Vertretungsprofessur W2) of Statistical Learning and Data Science. Prof. Dr. Bernd Bischl is taking a sabbatical leave for the summer semester 2022.

The average number of courses a professor at the department has to hold amounts to 9 hours per week. Of those, 2 hours/week can be spent on supporting theses. The interim professor is therefore expected to offer two relevant courses (typically at the department this translates into 3 hours/week/course).
An overview of recent courses held by the chair can be found here: Which courses exactly should be held will be further discussed during the interview, since it depends to some extent on the candidate's profile. Staff for tutorials and exercises is available.

SLDS currently consists of about 30 people, including 7 postdocs. Furthermore, two office administrators and a scientific manager offer advice and support the researchers in various administrative aspects.Hence, given the infrastructure that is already in place (office administrators & scientific manager) and the fact that Prof. Bischl will still be available to a certain degree during his absence, the interim professor is not expected to run and organise the complete chair by themselves. It is expected, however, that the suitable candidate collaborates at least with one of the existing research groups.
