Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München is recognized as one of Europe's premier academic and research institutions. The Gene Center is a central scientific institution of the LMU located in the heart of its Life Science Campus in Großhadern.
The research group of Professor Veit Hornung at the Gene Center, LMU Munich, Germany, offers a Postdoctoral Position (f/m/x) in immunology / biochemistry.
Tasks and responsibilities
Our research revolves around the central question of how the innate immune system can distinguish self from non-self. In this context, we are trying to understand how sensors of the innate immune system can detect certain conserved microbial components while they reliably ignore self. Our studies focus on sensor systems that operate within the cytoplasm, such as inflammasomes or the cGAS-STING signalling axis. To study these pathways, we employ a broad range of methodologies, from functional genomics to biochemistry.
You will find more information on:
- PhD in immunology, biochemistry, biology or a related field
- Documented background in immunology, molecular biology or biochemistry
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines
- Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for research
- Fluent written and spoken English
The appointee will join an enthusiastic, multidisciplinary team within a stimulating atmosphere with excellent scientific working conditions and access to state-of-the-art instrumentation at the Gene Center of the LMU. The position is (initially) limited to two years, with the possibility of extension. Salary is determined by experience according to TV-L.
