The Max von Pettenkofer Institute, Virology, at the LMU München, Munich, Germany offers a Postdoctoral Position in SARS-CoV-2 Surveillance Research (m/f/d) for two years in the laboratory of Prof. Oliver T. Keppler.

The recent emergence of several SARS-CoV-2 variants-of-concern (VOC) with substantially increased transmissibility and possibly also increased case fatality rates poses a major challenge for the control of the pandemic. The surveillance of known VOCs on a local, national and international level, the interaction with various consortia, solving regulatory issues, the identification of novel VOCs and coordinating biosafety level 3 studies on VOC’s biological characteristics are part of the exciting job description.


The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record and practical experience in virology, molecular biology or immunology. We expect a strong interest also in organizational aspects, sound IT skills, communication skills and a strong motivation. We offer a highly topical and interesting research topic with great biomedical relevance in a stimulating and interactive scientific environment.
