Heroes are very much en vogue in the cultural sphere and the media at the moment, and the wider social relevance of the heroic individual has once again become the subject of much discussion.
The Faculty of Languages and Literatures at LMU is hosting an online Conference on the theme of "Heroes and Heroism", which will focus on those aspects of the heroic figure depicted in the epic poetry of Classical Antiquity and the Middle Ages that have reappeared in modern times, and continue to influence our collective imagination today.
Over the course of 3 days, contributors to the Conference will trace the historical develoment of the concept of the hero – from Classical times down to the present day.
The Conference, which is open to all those interested, will be held in German. For details on how to register, see the following website.
