Enrollment for exchange students

In order to study at the LMU as an Erasmus+, SEMP, or LMUexchange student, you must enroll (register) at the LMU after you receive notification of your admission. As an exchange student, you can enroll for either one or two semesters.

Date of enrollment

Enrollment for winter semester usually takes place in September/October and for summer semester in March/April. You will find the exact dates in your letter of admission.

Required documents

  • Notification of admission
  • Health insurance certificate issued by a statutory German health insurance provider
  • Valid passport or identity card

Instructions for enrollment

  • You have to enroll in person. It is not possible to send a proxy to enroll for you.
  • You can only enroll with complete documents.
  • After enrollment you have to pay the semester fee to receive your LMUcard. You will receive further information at enrollment.
  • Erasmus+, SEMP and LMUexchange students are enrolled as "program students" for a maximum period of two semesters per study cycle. If you would like to continue your studies at LMU after two semesters, you must re-apply as a regular student.
