Language courses and cultural program

The language and orientation program for exchange students starts in March and September. In a variety of intensive language courses, excursions and cultural events you can improve your language skills, make new friends and get to know LMU.

Language courses for exchange students

The intensive language courses last at least three weeks and are offered across all language levels by the course providers IUCM (International University Club Munich) and DKFA (Deutschkurse bei der Universität München). A placement test guarantees that you are put in the right class. The courses are subject to a fee. However, the International Office subsidizes the courses for Erasmus+ and LMUexchange students.

If you are unable to arrive at the beginning of September or March, you can improve your language skills in an interactive online language course with the provider DUO (Deutsch-Uni Online). If you already have a good command of German, you can take a specialization course, such as German for Law Students. While completing the online modules you will be in regular contact with your supervisor. You also have the chance to communicate with other students in a virtual classroom.

Excursions and cultural program

On weekends and in the evenings you will have time to explore Munich and Bavaria with other students. In addition to a city tour, we organize excursions, for example to Neuschwanstein or Salzburg. Other interesting activities are also included in the program.

Participation in this program is subject to a fee. However, the International Office subsidizes the trips for Erasmus+ and LMUexchange students.
