Interview: "With internships, quality is what counts"

The idea of entering on a career makes many students anxious. But Stephan Pflaum, Head of LMU's Career Community, says it's not necessary to have a string of internships to one's credit. Read the complete interview.

"LMU OSIF is an excellent and innovative scheme which convinced us straight away. We appreciate the opportunity to present our company to a wide range of diverse and highly qualified students. By doing so, we can grant an exciting look behind the scenes of a consultancy firm through detailed case study." (Benno Stöcklein, McKinsey&Company)

Applications and procedure

The deadline for applications is 18 July 2021.

The micro internship runs from 26 July until 6 August 2021.
Within this time frame you will be expected to work on, and complete, one business case per company (two in total taken from the list above.) This happens as part of an interdisciplinary team comprising other students.

Together with your peers, you complete these business cases online. Collaboration happens by means of the Ideation/ Yambla platform provided by our partners Futury.

  • On 26 July 2021 you will receive training on how to use the online platform and work in virtual teams.
  • From 26 July until 1 August 2021 you will work within your teams to propose a resolution to the business case — receiving support from the sponsoring company as you go.
  • From 2 to 6 August 2021 pitches take place. Here you will present your results and receive feedback from the sponsoring company.
  • After this event there's the chance to conduct a 1:1 career discussion with participating companies.
  • Please find the list of FAQs here.

Meet & Greet

Around forty times a year, we offer you the chance to get an inside scoop on one specific company. At these evening events (online 5 p.m.–6:30 p.m. / in presence 5–8:30 p.m.), the participating company will introduce itself starting with a short presentation. At the business buffet afterwards, you'll have the chance to meet a number of their team from experienced employees to young high fliers. This is a rare opportunity to make valuable contacts which — naturally — you can refer to in your next job application.
