Winter Semester at LMU: “3G” (COVID status), mobile vaccination and rapid tests

11 Oct 2021

In the upcoming Winter Semester, face-to-face teaching at LMU can take place subject to compliance with hygiene regulations. The latest information – including the state government’s regulations, which the University has to follow – can be found, as usual, at At LMU, it is up to the faculties themselves to decide how teaching will actually take place.

One key condition for having face-to-face teaching is compliance with the “3G” rule. This means that you must be either fully vaccinated, have had COVID and recovered, or have a negative test result if you wish to attend a face-to-face class or enter an LMU building.

We are offering two services to support you in complying with the “3G” rule. There will be another mobile vaccination campaign with a vaccine bus at Geschwister-Scholl-Platz on 13 and 20 October 2021 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (first and second vaccination only). You do not need an appointment. Just turn up with your student ID (LMUCard), ID card and vaccination booklet (Impfpass). Please register in advance with the Bavarian Vaccination Center.

And if you are not yet fully vaccinated, two rapid testing stations will soon be available for LMU students. From 12 October, you can get a free test there simply by showing your LMUCard. You need to book an appointment through the portal: Please note that testing will only be free for students until 30 November 2021. After 30 November, testing will only be free for those students (with any student status) who are covered by other exemptions, such as medical contraindications, meaning that they cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons. Free testing will also continue to be provided to foreign students who have been vaccinated with a vaccine other than one approved by the European Medicines Agency and who are therefore not classed as vaccinated in the EU but who cannot be re-vaccinated either.

The two testing stations are located at:

  • Schellingstraße 3
  • Martinsried Campus, in front of the Biozentrum
