Events

Prospective and current doctoral researchers as well as postocs can attend our workshops, lectures and forums to obtain information, network with peers and gain further qualifications. The annual GC Speed Slam challenges participants to summarize their research project in 180 seconds.

Workshops

The GraduateCenter offers transferable skills workshops for the further qualification of doctoral researchers. Some workshops are also open to graduates or postdocs. The qualification concept aims to systematically provide training opportunities for the diverse needs of early-career researchers. Therefore, there are workshops

  • for the different phases of doctoral studies (orientation, starting, working, writing, and final phases)
  • for all disciplines as well as for specific areas (humanities, social sciences, natural sciences)
  • to develop competencies for academic work
  • to develop general competencies
  • in German and English.

There are four thematic categories of workshops.

Many of the skills acquired not only help with work on the doctoral project, but can also be applied to work outside academia.

Kurz & bündig

The 'Kurz & bündig' event series offers future and current doctoral candidates two-hour interactive lectures providing information, food for thought and tips on topics that may be relevant during their doctoral studies.

GC Forum

The GC Forum event series provides a platform for (prospective) doctoral researchers and alumni to network and share experiences on a variety of topics across disciplines and career levels.
