How are sustainability issues communicated? How do language, rhetoric and narratives shape the way we engage with climate change, social justice, ecology and peace?

The lecture series organized by the Institute of Romance Philology addresses key questions at the intersection of literary studies, linguistics and sustainability studies: What role do storytelling, adaptations into other media and “Easy Language” play in communicating sustainability goals? Where are the limits of normativity in language and expression? How does sustainability discourse shape the methods of Romance Studies itself?

Speakers from international universities provide insights into their research – ranging from the language of climate change and the pharmakon to artist–plant entanglements and zoopoetics.
