The Russian war against Ukraine raises fundamental questions about the history of the twentieth century. These questions are in the focus of the work of the Mykola-Haievoi Center at the Ukrainian Catholic University in Lviv and the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich. The webinar will address questions of Holocaust research in Ukraine and in a broader European context before the background of the current war.

Yaroslav Hrytsak and Martin Schulze Wessel will introduce into the work and research aims of the Mykola-Haievoi Center.
Yuri Radchenko will present his recent book Auxiliary Police, Local Administration, the SD and the Shoah in the Ukrainian-Russian-Belarusian Borderlands (1941-1943), Kyiv 2025, and discuss what the current war means for Holocaust research in Ukraine.
These remarks will be followed by a panel discussion on recent developments in Holocaust research in Ukraine, Germany and other countries with introductory statements by Andrea Löw and Kai Struve. The panel will also address questions of cultures of remembrance and what impact the current war might have on them.
