Early Giftedness in the Family: Investigating the Home Learning Environment
The family is the first place of learning for children and contributes significantly to the development of skills and talent in young children. The study HOME examines which aspects of the Home Learning Environment (HLE) are particularly important for the development of gifted children.
The study includes two data collection phases (summer 2025 & summer 2026) and the examination of gifted children's skills using psychological tests. In addition, the parents and the children's teachers will fill out a questionnaire about the HLE, digital media use, children's skills and behavior. The focus is on examining the relationship between the quality of the HLE and the cognitive, academic and emotional skills of gifted preschool children.
The research project aims to investigate the significance of the HLE for the development of gifted preschool children. The following research questions will be answered:
By identifying important aspects of the HLE for the skill development of gifted preschool children, the role of the family in the context of early giftedness will be clarified and support options will be identified. The importance of digital media in families will also be emphasized, which can serve as effective resources for supporting gifted children.
