Welcome to the Chair of Clinical Neuropsychology

Neuropsychology is a subdiscipline of the neurosciences. It deals with the central nervous system foundations of human experience and behavior, as well as their changes following congenital or acquired brain damage.

The Chair of Neuropsychology was newly established in 1995 and began teaching and research activities in the winter semester of 1995/1996.

Clinical neuropsychology focuses on the scientific and clinical assessment and analysis of impairments in the areas of perception, attention, learning and memory, thinking, language, goal-oriented behavior (including sensorimotor functions), motivation, and emotionality.

We are currently investigating the relationship between visual perception, attention, and action, developing methods for treating patients with neglect and visual field disorders, and examining the psychiatric consequences that can occur in the context of neurological diseases. In addition to methods for measuring eye and arm movements, we also use neuroscientific methods such as MEG and TMS. Further information on our research can be found here.

Our team consists of dedicated employees who combine neuroscientific and clinical interests. A complete list of current employees can be found here.

Our research interests in keywords:

Visuomotor skills
Visual perception
Visual agnosia
Face blindness
Hemianopia
Neglect
Post-traumatic stress disorder in the context of neurological disorders
