Short Description

Aaron Petrasch has been a PhD student and researcher at the chair since April 2023. In his research, he investigates whether and how artificial intelligence (AI)—particularly multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs)—can mimic human judgment of persons and situations. Specifically, he analyzes the extent to which AI-based judgments of person characteristics (e.g., via the Big Five personality traits) and situation characteristics (e.g., via the DIAMONDS taxonomy) align with human judgments, and examines the cues humans and AI use to form these judgments.Alongside developing methods for the psychometric validation of AI ratings, Aaron is particularly interested in the methodological opportunities that AI provides for studying the dynamics between persons and situations, as well as the societal and ethical implications of these technologies. He studied psychology at the University of Vienna and HU Berlin, with stays abroad at Universidad de La Laguna (ES) and the University of British Columbia (CA). He also has practical experience in consulting and coaching.
