Nicole Heitzmann studied educational sciences, psychology and business administration at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich, and also obtained a doctorate in 2014 from the same institution. She started her academic career at the private University of Witten/Herdecke at the Lab of Prof. Martin Fischer and later transferred together with Martin Fischer to the Institute for Medical Education at the University Hospital, LMU Munich. Nicole Heitzmann joint Prof. Frank Fischer’s lab in 2011 and first worked as a study program coordinator in the M.Sc. Psychology in the Learning Sciences master’s program offered by the Munich Center of the Learning Sciences (MCLS). In 2014 she became the managing director of the MCLS which involves more than 50 researchers from 8 faculties who engage in interdisciplinary research projects and in international masters’ and PhD programs in the learning sciences. Nicole Heitzmann is a member of the DFG research unit COSIMA as well as of the DigiLLab of the LMU Munich. Since 2021 Nicole is an academic council and teaches primary psychology as part of the Educational Studies for prospective teachers. Her research now focuses on learning processes and scaffolding in simulations, technology enhanced learning, learning and teaching with digital media as well as on cross-disciplinary collaboration.
