Maren Giersiepen is interested in how the sense of agency, the feeling of control over out actions and their effects, influences perception, decision-making, and learning during goal-directed behavior. She uses behavioral and neurophysiological methods to study the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying agency-related changes in behavior, with a particular focus on the role of outcome evaluation.
