Apl. Prof. Mechthild Schäfer

Adjunct Professor Dr. Mechthild Schäfer taught developmental psychology at the Department of Psychology at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, focusing on topics such as developmental disorders, applied developmental psychology, counseling approaches, and educational psychology. Her research focused on topics such as relationships in childhood and adolescence, aggression and bullying in school classrooms as a group phenomenon, the stability of bullying roles, the consequences of bullying, the importance of context for social roles, and determinants of teachers’ perceptions when dealing with student problems. Prof. Dr. Mechthild Schäfer passed away on October 21, 2025.
