Artificial intelligence is shaping the application process on both sides: an increasing number of students use AI tools to create their application documents, while companies increasingly rely on AI-based systems to pre-screen and evaluate applications. For students, the key question is therefore no longer whether AI is being used, but how it can be applied in a meaningful, reflective, and strategic way. This seminar provides a practice-oriented overview of how AI is transforming the application process and where its use creates real added value. Students learn how to use AI tools in a targeted way to create, optimize, and tailor their application materials. At the same time, the seminar explains how selection processes work and what human resources departments expect from modern
applications. The interactive lecture combines concrete use cases with critical reflection and demonstrates how AI can support the application process without compromising
authenticity, transparency, or credibility.

Gespräche und Meetings nehmen eine zentrale Stellung in unserer Zusammenarbeit ein. Wir tauschen wichtige Informationen mit Partnern aus, erarbeiten passende Lösungen und führen Entscheidungen herbei.

Allerdings bleiben Einzel- & Gruppengespräche oft hinter den Möglichkeiten zurück: Themen fransen schnell aus, die Zeit läuft aus dem Ruder, die Ergebnisse sind angesichts der insgesamt eingesetzten Zeit oft mittelprächtig. Kritische Fragen, Einwände und Widerstände gehören zu anspruchsvollen Gesprächen dazu – und sind oft sogar der Schlüssel zur Klärung. Gleichzeitig kippen Gespräche gerade in kritischen Momenten schnell: Inhalte vermischen sich mit Emotionen, Unterstellungen oder Respektlosigkeiten. Wer dann reflexhaft gegenhält oder nachgibt, verliert entweder das Ziel oder den Kontakt.

A compelling cover letter is a central part of your job application and can be a real challenge for many students. It is often difficult to clearly identify your strengths or to convincingly express your motivation for a position. In this hands-on workshop, you will create your own cover letter for a specific application. You will learn how to present your skills and experiences in a structured way, highlight your strengths, and address job postings effectively. During guided writing sessions, you will actively work on your cover letter, reflect on common pitfalls such as uncertainty in self-presentation or balancing motivation with showcasing your skills, and receive constructive peer feedback. This approach helps you overcome hesitation, build confidence in the writing process, and develop routines that will support you in future applications. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with a finished, practical cover letter that you can use immediately and with the knowledge of how to present your strengths confidently in future applications.

Students will…

• create their own cover letter that can be used directly for applications
• learn to express their personal strengths, experiences, and motivation clearly and convincingly
• analyze job postings and address their requirements effectively in the cover letter
• practice in guided writing sessions and receive feedback from peers
• recognize common pitfalls and learn strategies to avoid them

Participation Requirements

• PC or laptop with a stable internet connection as well as functioning audio and video capabilities.
• As the seminar is designed to be interactive, having cameras switched on contributes significantly to a positive group atmosphere and is therefore explicitly encouraged during the session.
