What Can European History Teach Us for Today (and Tomorrow)?

There is war in Europe once again. And dictatorships. And imperialism. And nationalist, far-right forces that are even winning elections at the state level in Germany.
Are we even capable of learning from history if we haven’t experienced it firsthand? If so, what lessons should we draw from 2,500 years of European history for today and tomorrow?
Drawing on arguments and examples from his newly published book Europa in 7 1/2 Kapiteln, Timothy Garton Ash, Professor Emeritus of European Studies at the University of Oxford, poses these questions—and attempts to offer at least some answers.

The event will be held in German. Afterward, you'll have the opportunity to have the book signed.
