Training the next generation of neuroscientists

Our students benefit from close interaction with experts across experimental, clinical neuroscience, computational, and theoretical neuroscience, while developing both scientific and transferable skills within an international and collaborative environment.

Integrated teaching concept

From master’s training to advanced doctoral research, students participate in a coordinated curriculum combining:

  • methodological and analytical training
  • communication and presentation skills
  • teaching experience
  • grant writing and publishing
  • teaching, leadership, and management skills

Interdisciplinary mentoring & supervision

GSN students benefit from individual and interdisciplinary mentoring by leading researchers from different fields of neuroscience.

Doctoral researchers are supported by a Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC), which monitors project development, provides regular feedback, and supports both, academic and professional development throughout the Ph.D.

International & collaborative environment

GSN students come from a diverse range of academic and cultural backgrounds and are selected through a highly competitive admissions process.

The program fosters an international and interdisciplinary research culture in which students learn to collaborate across scientific, institutional, and cultural boundaries.

Preparing researchers for collaborative careers

In addition to scientific training, students develop skills relevant for careers in academia, industry, and the public sector through workshops focusing on

  • intercultural communication
  • teamwork and collaboration
  • scientific publishing
  • teaching and mentoring
