IASSIDD European Congress 2026 in Munich

From July 28 to 31, 2026, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München will host the 7th European Congress of the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IASSIDD). Researchers, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, self-advocacy groups, professionals, family members, and policymakers from around the world will gather under the theme “real.time – Shaping the Future Together,”

The conference is hosted by Prof. Dr. Peter Zentel, who holds the Chair of Special Education - Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences. Together with his team, he is responsible for the academic and organizational aspects of the conference.

The focus will be on current scientific findings, innovative practical approaches, and international exchange on participation, education, health, and inclusion. The program includes lectures, symposia, workshops, and poster presentations, and offers numerous opportunities for networking across disciplinary and national boundaries. The congress sends a strong signal for jointly shaping an inclusive future and transforms Munich into an international forum for science, practice, and self-advocacy.
