IT Services for Students

As a student or staff member of LMU, you have access to a personal network drive provided by the LRZ. A total of 400 GB of storage space is available for your data. The drive is operated in the LRZ’s high-security data centers, and access is granted exclusively via your personal user ID. Your data is also backed up regularly, ensuring a high level of security and reliability.

You can access your personal network drive conveniently without any local installation via the Webdisk interface. Access takes place directly through your browser and allows you to view, upload, download, and manage your files. This ensures that your data is securely available to you at any time and from any internet-enabled device.

1. Open File Explorer
   Open File Explorer (Windows key + E).
2. Map a Network Drive
   Click on “This PC.”
   In the top menu, select “Computer” → “Map network drive.”
3. Choose a Drive Letter
   Select any available letter, e.g., H:.
4. Enter the Path
   In the Folder field, enter the following path:
   \\nas.ads.mwn.de\your LRZ username
5. Establish the Connection
   Enable “Reconnect at sign-in.”
   Enable “Connect using different credentials.”
   Click “Finish.”
6. Enter Your Login Credentials
   Username: ads\your LRZ username
   Password: your LRZ password

Sync & Share is a cloud storage service provided by the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ), allowing students and staff of LMU to securely store, synchronize, and share files. The service functions similarly to common commercial cloud solutions but is operated entirely on LRZ servers in Germany and meets high data protection and security standards.

Sync & Share enables access to your data from various devices such as PCs, laptops, smartphones, and tablets. You can easily keep documents synchronized across your devices or share folders with colleagues and external partners. Data transfers are encrypted to ensure secure transmission; however, please note that files stored on the server itself are not encrypted.

The service can be used conveniently through a web interface or via the Sync Client, which automatically updates local folders. This way, you have access to your important files anytime and anywhere.

Campus Mail is the email service for students of LMU Munich. It is intended exclusively for LMU students. To use this service, you must first complete an initial registration via the CampusLMU portal. Your mailbox and IMAP folders include 1 GB of available storage space.

Email Address
Your email address follows the format Firstname.Lastname@campus.lmu.de, which you can set during your initial registration.
