Sustainability Representatives

The faculty's sustainability representatives and open sustainability initiative

Who we are

© Dr. Barbara Meyer

The sustainability representatives coordinate our faculty’s open sustainability initiative and form a network with the sustainability officers from all LMU faculties to actively shape sustainable change at the university. Together, they champion projects and interdisciplinary exchange and serve as your points of contact for any concerns, questions, or ideas related to sustainability and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

Faculty 11’s open sustainability initiative is a coalition of several faculty members dedicated to promoting greater sustainability in everyday university life. Our group originally emerged within the Department of Clinical Psychology and has since expanded to include the entire Faculty 11, with the goal of promoting sustainability measures across all departments. We welcome your interest, input, and participation. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or to connect.

Our goal

© Dr. Barbara Meyer

As staff and students, we want to work together to make everyday university life more sustainable. From office supplies to search engines to electrical appliances—there are many areas where sustainability can be incorporated. Through our initiative, we aim to raise awareness and identify opportunities for action in these areas.

Sustainability topics can and should also be incorporated into teaching and discussed collectively. We aim to engage with students on relevant topics related to sustainability, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), and the UN Sustainable Development Goals: in lectures, seminars, or internships in psychology and education, as well as in individual projects.

Many areas of research can also be affected: how we recruit and compensate participants, as well as how we collect, analyze, and archive data, can be made more resource-efficient. Sustainability can be considered and integrated into project proposals, business travel for project meetings and conferences, and science communication. We provide information and strive to facilitate new and simple approaches.
