Call for 15 LMU Research Fellowships

26 Sept 2018

LMU provides stipends to enable young researchers to undertake research projects at leading institutions abroad. The measure is designed to broaden the horizons of its academics and extend their networks of international contacts.

The LMU Research Fellowships are intended for outstanding early-stage postdoctoral researchers from all fields of research. The program gives Research Fellows the opportunity to carry out an independent research project with the support of an LMU professor. The LMU Research Fellowships Program was first advertised in 2009. Since then it has enabled 55 researchers from abroad to carry out research projects at LMU. To complement the established Incoming Fellowships, which are designed to attract international postdocs to LMU, Outgoing Fellowships were introduced last year. This program now allows young researchers at LMU to compete for 2- to 3-year fellowships to permit them to do research at an institution of their choice outside the EU. Applicants must have obtained a PhD at LMU within the previous 12 months, or be about to complete their doctoral thesis.

The selected Fellows will be advised jointly by an LMU faculty member associated with their institute in Munich and by their supervisor at the host institute. With the extension of the program, LMU hopes to promote mobility among its junior researchers and to strengthen their range of international research contacts.

The program for Incomings and Outgoings is now open, and the closing date for receipt of applications is November 28, 2018.
