A new project at LMU’s Faculty of Medicine is designed to help medical students in Ukraine successfully complete their studies. Headed by Professor Martin Fischer, holder of the Chair of Medical Education at LMU, and Karolin Dospil, the online teaching program “Digital tuition in medicine – Teaching and learning clinical decision-making skills online” is being developed in collaboration with Charité in Berlin and the University of Kiev. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is sponsoring the project as part of its Ukraine digital program.

The project aims to give students and lecturers alike the opportunity to involve virtual patients and case studies in the tuition. To this end, there are plans to train lecturers from Ukraine and develop online teaching scenarios. In addition, Ukrainian students will take part in a tutor training course and the International Clinical Case Discussion Summer School (ICDSS) in October 2022.

Under the aegis of the DAAD program “Ukraine digital: Ensuring academic success in times of crisis”, the project is receiving funding in the amount of 250,000 euros.
