Sixth Conversation | University 2040

Winter Semester 2027/28

The concluding event will return to the overarching question of the series: What kind of academic and institutional stance does a university—and LMU in particular—need when confronted with issues that are scientifically complex, socially contentious, and normatively charged?

The final discussion will thus take the series to a further level of reflection. The panel will bring together LMU’s Vice Presidents responsible for the various academic disciplines.

The fundamental question remains: How can a university, today and in the future, remain a place of controversial, free, and responsible debate?

What does this mean for research and teaching? And how should university leadership position itself in relation to these challenges?
