53rd Conference of German Historians

Opening hours / Beginning:

5 October 2021 - 8 October 2021

The 53rd Conference of the Association of German Historians (Deutscher Historikertag) takes place on 5–8 October 2021. Its motto is “Conflicting Interpretations“. In around 100 subject-specific sections, more than 450 speakers from Germany and abroad will present talks on current research topics.

The partnering country this year is Israel. The event is organized by the Association of German Historians (VHD), the German Association of History Teachers (VGD) and LMU Munich. The conference is the latest in a series that began with the first “meeting of German historians” in Munich in 1893. The event is a biennial one, and each conference is devoted to the discussion of urgent issues in the historical sciences and contemporary society.

Owing to the pandemic, this year’s event will be held in digital form on a dedicated Conference Platform. Unless otherwise indicated in the Program on the Conference's website, the presentations will be available on the digital Conference Platform.

Tickets: Access to the Conference Platform is available only to those with a valid ticket, which can be booked at Registration, where further information on the various ticket categories can also be found.
