Reading and discussion with Katja Petrovskaya
Als wäre es vorbei (As If It Were Over), recently published by Suhrkamp Verlag, is a collection of photo columns that Katja Petrovskaya has been writing for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) newspaper since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Her book chronicles the war, but does so from completely different angles to war correspondents and political observers. Effectively adopting a micrological perspective on individual details, Petrovskaya captures the brutal reality of the war and how it has changed the life of Ukrainians.
As part of the international conference on Jewish Immigration from Eastern Europe to Israel and Germany in Light of the War in Ukraine, Philipp Lenhard talks to the author about the fallout from the war, the Ukrainian diaspora in Germany and the role played by Jewishness and Jewish identity in this situation.
Prior registration is required. The event will be held in German. For more information, please visit the Center for Israel Studies (ZIS).
