Tom Messavilla’s works center around building and designing. Mostly he creates spaceships that transport smaller and larger landscapes, drawing on images from memory as his inspiration. In the process of painting, visual spaces spread out, embracing seasonal aspects: It is winter in the spaceships. Viewers are invited to enter the spaceship, too, and give free rein to how they imagine life there.
Tom Messavilla studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, the city where he lives and works.
Historian Robert Kramm leads the research project “Radical Utopian Communities” and is a member of the CAS Young Center.
