CAS Ethics Lab - On Indifference

Opening hours / Beginning:

1 July 2021 - 2 July 2021

The Center for Advanced Studies at LMU provides a forum for scientific exchange and discussion that bridges the divide between the established disciplines. Its activities are designed to promote all forms of collaborative research and to stimulate interdisciplinary communication within the University. In addition, it facilitates the integration of visiting scholars and scientists into the academic life of the University.

Unlike the more common academic workshop formats of individual paper presentations, the CAS Ethics Lab seeks to create a focused, yet supportive, workshop-style setting in which exploratory group discussions, as well as the sharing and brainstorming of jointly developed ideas and arguments around a certain topic take center stage. Accordingly, the motto of the Ethics Lab is “Think Together”. The Ethics Lab’s purpose is to introduce a new model for knowledge generation and the exchange of ideas and arguments in academic philosophy, thereby hoping to further contribute to the building of supportive and cooperative international research networks. This year’s topic will be indifference and its connections to other attitudinal injuries as well as to the notions of recognition and empathy.

Think tank led by Prof. Dr. Monika Betzler (CAS Research Group/LMU).

The event will be conducted in English. For further Information, see the CAS website.
