Automated decision making using AI is becoming an increasingly important component of modern technical systems including applications such as credit scoring or automated diagnosis systems in healthcare. Most of these applications are safety-critical, meaning that mistakes can have fatal consequences. Thus the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU requires, admittedly in a weak form, that automated decisions should be explainable, fair and, in general, trustworthy. Hence, in Europe this topic will be one of the key items for the next generation of AI. In this workshop, both state-of-the-art methods and challenges from application areas will be presented and discussed.

This is the fourth of a series of four roundtables where LMU researchers will discuss the topic of "Next Generation AI".

The event will be streamed in English. Prior registration by email is required. For further information, see the CAS website.

The Center for Advanced Studies at LMU provides a forum for scientific exchange and discussion that bridges the divide between the established disciplines. Its activities are designed to promote all forms of collaborative research and to stimulate interdisciplinary communication within the University. In addition, it facilitates the integration of visiting scholars and scientists into the academic life of the University.
