CAS: The History of Ideas: A Retrospective?

Opening hours / Beginning:

Thu:
2:00 pm

7 October 2021

A panel discussion with Prof. Richard Bourke, Ph.D., Prof. Dina Gusejnova, Ph.D. and Prof. Dr. Wilfried Nippel

Richard Bourke and Dina Gusejnova have made a film on the specifically German tradition of tracing the history of ideas, and asked how it has fared since its heyday and eventual expulsion from Germany. The participants will discuss whether the concept itself is still viable, has been subsumed into other strands of intellectual history, or can now be regarded as obsolete. The discussion will be followed by a showing of the film “Rosenöl und deutscher Geist: The Fortunes of German Intellectual History”, which inspired this event.

Moderator: Dr. Annette Meyer (CAS LMU)

The event will be conducted in German. For further information, see the CAS website.

The Center for Advanced Studies at LMU provides a forum for scientific exchange and discussion that bridges the divide between the established disciplines. Its activities are designed to promote all forms of collaborative research and to stimulate interdisciplinary communication within the University. In addition, it facilitates the integration of visiting scholars and scientists into the academic life of the University.
