When ChatGPT was suddenly released to the general public in November of 2022, a lively discussion about how it was going to affect education and research immediately sprung up. That discussion is still on-going and far from settled, and generative AI technologies are becoming more and more ubiquitous in society.

This evening event will explore ethical and social questions about the use of ChatGPT and other large language models in teaching and research.

Moderated by LMU's Professor of the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, Sven Nyholm, this interdisciplinary event will feature a keynote by the leading AI ethics expert and Humboldt Fellow Dr. Silvia Milano and a panel discussion with LMU professors Peter Adamson (philosophy), Frauke Kreuter (statistics and data science), and Albrecht Schmidt (computer science).
