The traveling exhibition Bacteriopolis explores the origins of life on Earth, with a focus on bacteria that first appeared 3.5 billion years ago.
Fitted snugly into a shipping container, interactive elements are on display that appeal to visitors of all ages. The exhibition highlights the ubiquity of bacteria and showcases their versatile capabilities.
On site in Munich, researchers from the Chair of Microbiology at LMU and from TU Dresden will present their research in a way that is accessible to everyone.
Additional highlights:
- Multicellularity in bacteria: Aspects of multicellularity in bacteria are illustrated using graphic examples such as the production of water kefir and the conductive functions of cable bacteria.
- Hands-on stations: Various hands-on stations, including an interactive exploration of the tree of life, microscopy experiments and craft activities, will give visitors of all ages a glimpse into the bacterial microcosm.
