Visualizing the divine. A testimonial lecture by Professor Katrin Kogman-Appel (University of Münster)

Anthropomorphic representations of God – portrayals of God in human form – are alien to Jewish art. This lecture addresses the question of how different discourses have affected the representation of the divine in the Jewish fine arts. Drawing on selected examples, concepts of the visualization of God are presented and analyzed in their respective historical and theological contexts.

Prior registration by 2 July is required. For more information, please visit the website of the Munich Research Center for Jewish-Arabic Cultures.
