Lyrik Kabinett: Glosses against god

Opening hours / Beginning:

Thu:
7:00 pm

16 February 2023

Venue:

Lyrik Kabinett Amalienstraße 83a (Rückgebäude) 80799 München

Marko Pogačar, born in Split in 1984, has already been dubbed the “Rimbaud of Croatian poetry”. Be that as it may, such comparisons above all highlight what is new and contemporary about Pogačars verses: the casual juxtaposition of popular culture, sex and everyday life; a vivid play on transforming the sacred into the profane and vice versa; an awareness of the wound as a specific “place you can enter”, in the words of Dagmar Leupold, quoted in the Lyrischer Quartett and referencing the book – Glossen gegen Gott (Glosses against God) Edition Korrespondenzen, 2022) – which he has just published and will be presenting on 16 February.

Pogačar – poet-in-residence at both the Kabinett and the Ebenböckhaus since the start of 2023 – will also talk to Lisa Jeschke about his current activities. In Munich, he is working on a volume that tackles poetic ways of speaking from the perspective of a neutral grammatical gender. At the same time, he is involved in an essay project on the role of poetry in times of violent conflict. The evening event will reflect the full baroque spectrum of Marko Pogačar’s works.

Moderation: Lisa Jeschke

In cooperation with the Artist in Residence Munich program, Villa Waldberta/City of Munich
