“Science explains the world and opens up new insights. We add another perspective to our angle on reality, as with a kaleidoscope.” That is how Chief Conductor Joseph Bastian describes the idea behind the Munich Symphony Orchestra’s new season. In keeping with its motto ENTER NEW SPACES, the orchestra is stepping into the world of science as another way of exploring the world, alongside music.
Together with the Deutsches Museum’s Science Communication Lab, Professor Harald Weinfurter (LMU, MCQST) builds a bridge between current quantum research and the evening concert. The program features works by Bertin, Adams (Doctor Atomic Symphony), Beethoven and Dukas.
Program:
- 6:30 p.m.: Information booths in the foyer (Deutsches Museum, MCQST, PhotonLab), featuring real quantum hardware and a quantum computer translated into music
- 7:00 p.m.: Introduction to the concert with Professor Weinfurter and Joseph Bastian
- 7:30 p.m.: Symphony concert with a Deaf Performance by Walter Chiofalo
Prior registration is required. Further information is available on the Munich Symphony Orchestra website.
