Biodiversity is on everyone's lips. In the course of the earth's history, evolution has produced a great biological diversity, so that complex ecosystems could develop. An important basis of this diversity is genetic variation: The greater the genetic variability of a population, the more likely it is to adapt to new environmental conditions and evolve.
