How do you extract a canonical collection from the basement or some other academic store room? What part did (and do) slides play in putting it together and communicating it, especially in the teaching of the fine arts? How can contemporary artistic works challenge and disrupt such a canon?
A number of students join Dr. Helene Roth (LMU) and Niklas Wolf (AdBK/University of Zurich) in addressing these questions in the fifth edition of colophon. Magazin für Kunst und Wissenschaft (colophon. Magazine for Art and Science), a collaborative journalism project involving the Munich Academy of Fine Arts (AdBK) and LMU’s Institute of Art History.
