The Public Health Film Festival brings together people interested in public, global and planetary health.
It encourages participants to adopt different perspectives through the medium of film, to reflect critically and to discuss current public health issues with other interested people.The festival contributes to making public health more visible and to promoting interdisciplinary networking.

During the screenings and discussions in person, the 2G rule and FFP2 masks are mandatory.
The PHFF was initiated as part of the competition "Small Subjects: Visibly Innovative!" of the German Rectors' Conference and funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. It took place for the first time in April 2021 and is now supported by the Pettenkofer School of Public Health at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.
