9 February 2021

Under the slogan "Research in Europe: develop your scientific career", the European Liaison Office of the German Research Organisations (KoWi), together with LMU and TUM, will hold an online information event on Tuesday, 09 February, 2021. The event provides an overview on German and European funding opportunities to you, the junior researcher, who aims to pursue a career either in research or outside academia.

Doctoral students and postdocs will receive first-hand information on current European as well as German research funding opportunities for their scientific careers. Large research funding organisations such as the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Fraunhofer Society (FhG), the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the Max Planck Society (MPG), the Helmholtz Association (HGF), the Leibniz Association (WGL) will also give an overview of their funding programs targeted at junior researchers.

Opportunities for discussion and online consultations with the staff of the funding organisations will be available throughout the day.

LMU postdocs will have the unique opportunity to attend additional career sessions focusing on a broad spectrum of professional endeavours, whether in academia, industry or any other sector. The workshop will include three distinct, but closely linked sessions: one focusing on the tenure-track academic research careers, one focusing on a successful transition from academia to industry, and one on career planning. For these career sessions only a limited number of participants can attend, application is mandatory.

Insights into an alternative career path as a research manager will close the day’s programme for all participants.

Participation in the information event is free of charge. Participant number will be limited to 400 places. Places are available on a first come first served basis until capacity is reached and we will maintain a waiting list in case of any cancellation.
